HELPING OUR CHILDREN WITH ORGANIZATION

If you have a concern or idea regarding this topic, please feel free to share. We know that many parents and teachers find it a challenge to assist our children to become more organized both at home and at school.

I have my children get everything ready the night before so that they only need to dress and have breakfast. I also go ahead an put out the breakfast bowls, spoons, and cereal and get the automatic coffee pot ready so that all we have to do is pour, eat and go. It is a little more work at night, but I have the time to do it and I am not rushed.

I feel that keeping the parents informed of what is going on in the classrooms is a key to keeping the children organized. We can follow up and make sure they have all the necessary materials for their day. Our teachers are great with this by sending home weekly reports and emails - it has helped tremendously!

I agree with Kelly. At the end of the year during awards, I overheard all these different things my child could have been involved in, but didn't ever hear about it. So maybe keeping the parents a little more informed on different things for the children especially when it comes to them learning. Lets face it the kids are young and by the end of the day their little brains are tired, they wouldn't remember anyways.

I think teaching our children organizing skills will allow them more time to actually focus on their work and spend less time "hunting" necessary papers, pencils, etc.! I agree with anonymous (as to keeping parents & maybe grandparents informed as to all the different activities the children have available to them)! With parents working, it's tough keeping up with exactly what's at school that our children can pursue. More & more grandparents want to be more & more involved!
